Planting Wellness® is a Community Activations Network–led movement that uses planting and gardening to bring learning spaces, mental wellness, food security, and intergenerational community collaboration together.

Contributions and in-kind support sustain Rooted sites and create scholarships and classroom resources for partnering schools.

    Literacy

    Literacy Root

    Growing readers, thinkers, and problem-solvers.
Through hands-on gardening, participants build literacy by reading, writing, measuring, and storytelling—turning everyday tasks into meaningful learning moments that last a lifetime.

    Mental Wellness

    Calm Root (Mental Wellness)

Spaces to breathe, slow down, and reset.
Gardening creates rhythm, routine, and calm. This root supports mental wellness by offering safe, predictable, non-clinical spaces where anxiety eases and emotional balance grows.

Rooted spaces bring generations together to plant, learn, and serve side by side—building trust, friendships, and a shared sense of ownership in the community.

    Lifelong Love of Learning

    Curiosity doesn’t end at graduation.
From children to seniors, Rooted gardens are living classrooms where questions are encouraged, discoveries are shared, and learning becomes a joy, not a chore.

  • Physical Wellness

Healthy movement, fresh food, stronger bodies.
Planting, harvesting, and caring for the garden promotes gentle physical activity, outdoor time, and better nutrition—supporting wellness at every age.

  • Resilient Communities

    Stronger roots create stronger communities.
When literacy, calm, connection, learning, and physical wellness grow together, communities become more resilient, adaptive, and ready for whatever comes next.
